ITINERARY
DAY 1 - SUNDAY, JUNE 12 - DEPART USA Tour members depart for Israel.
DAY 2 – MONDAY, JUNE 13 - ARRIVE TEL AVIVArrive in Tel Aviv, Israel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3 – TUESDAY, JUNE 14 - CAESAREA, MEGIDDO, MT. CARMEL, DRUZES VILLAGE, GALILEE Morning tour begins by traveling to the Sea of Galilee stopping at sites along the way such as Caesarea Maritima (Acts 9 & 25), Tel Megiddo, & Mt. Carmel (1 Kgs.18). Continue to the Druze Village for lunch. We will continue to Tiberius for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4 - WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15 - GALILEE, MT. OF BEATITUDES, CAPERNAUM, BOAT RIDE ON SEA OF GALILEE, CAPERNAUM, There is nothing quite like watching a sunrise in the Galilee! Sightseeing today includes visiting the Mt. of Beatitudes (Matt. 5-7), Capernaum, a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, Gadera. Dinner and overnight in Tiberius.
DAY 5 – THURSDAY, JUNE 16 – NAZARETH, CANA, KURSI, JORDAN RIVER
Today’s travel will take us to Nazareth, the home of Jesus. There we will visit the Church of Annunciation and a visit to the ancient synagogue of Beit Alpha to view its beautiful mosaic floor. Additionally, our guide will take us to a Synagogue where it is believed that Jesus worshiped at as a young adult. From there we will journey to Cana, best known as the place where, according to the Fourth Gospel, Jesus performed his first public miracle, the turning of a large quantity of water into wine at a wedding feast. (John 2:1-11) We will back tract to visit Kursi, located east of the Sea of Galilee on the bank of a riverbed descending from the Golan Heights. By tradition this is the site where Jesus healed two men possessed by demons. From Kursi, we will journey to the River Jordon a place of many baptisms. Then we will return to the hotel for Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.
DAY 6 - FRIDAY, JUNE 17 - GOLAN HEIGHTS, CAESAREA PHILIPPI, TEL DAN, BEIT SHE’AN, JERICHO (If open to tourist), JERUSALEM Today’s travel is north into the Golan Heights for viewing the Galilee from a special lookout. Touring continues of Caesarea Philippi and includes a (optional) short hike/walk to Tel Dan for a view of the gate of Jeroboam and a visit to Gideon Springs. Time permitting, in traveling to Jerusalem, includes a visit to Tel Beit She’an, one of the best preserved Decapolis Roman cities and then Jericho (if open to tourist). Dinner and overnight in the majestic city of Jerusalem.
DAY 7 - SATURDAY, JUNE 18 - MT. OF OLIVES, PALM SUNDAY ROAD, GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE, MT. ZION GATE, JEWISH QUARTER, TEMPLE MOUNT, SOUTHERN STEPS, BETHLEHEM Behold the breath-taking panorama of the Holy City from the Mount of Olives! Our pilgrimage today will proceed down the Old Palm Sunday Road to the Garden of Gethsemane with its ancient olive grove, and the Church of Agony, where tradition holds that Jesus prayed. Enter Jerusalem through the Zion Gate, and walk to the holiest site in the whole Jewish world, the Western Wall (Wailing Wall) of Herod's temple. Beyond the wall lies the 35-acre temple area purchased by King David (2 Sam. 24:18-25). On this site now stands the magnificent Dome of the Rock (the third holiest shrine in all Islam) and the El-Aksa Mosque. From the temple area, the pilgrimage walk continues to St. Stephen's Gate, St. Anne's Crusader Church, Pools of Bethesda, the Sister of Zion Convent (to see the Pavement where Jesus stood as he was being tried by Pilate), Ecco Homo Arch, the ancient Cardo and the Southern Steps (to stand on the original steps that Jesus walked on as he entered the Temple area) Today’s sightseeing includes a short drive and visit to Bethlehem, passing by Rachel's tomb on the outskirts of Bethlehem, and a visit to the Church of the Nativity and Shepherd's Field. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem
DAY 8 - SUNDAY, JUNE 19 - EIN GEDI, QUMRAN, MASADA, DEAD SEA Touring today includes a visit to Ein Gedi- where David hid from King Saul- and Qumran - possible settlement of the first century sect known as the Essenes, the authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Following the road south along the western shore of the Dead Sea includes a stop at Masada, the fortress built by King Herod. Ascending the area by cable car, visitors are able to survey the ruins of the fortifications, waterworks, synagogue, temples and palaces. Time permitting we will make a special stop at the Dead Sea (also referred to as the lowest spot on the earth) for a short swim/float. Please be sure to bring water/closed end shoes, as the bottom surface can be rough. If time and conditions permit, a short visit to Jericho may be included. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
DAY 9 - MONDAY, JUNE 20 - SHRINE OF THE BOOK, HEZEKIAH’S TUNNEL, ST. PETER GALLICANTU, GARDEN TOMB A full day of sightseeing with a visit to the Shrine of the Book Museum, for a viewing of the Dead Sea Scrolls. This full day of touring includes visiting the Church of Agony at St. Peter Gallicanto, the City of David, and a walk (potentially wet!) through Hezekiah's Tunnel, followed by a quiet time of worship and meditation at the Garden Tomb. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
DAY 10 – TUESDAY, JUNE 21 - DAY 09 - JERUSALEMMorning drive to Valley of Elah-site of the battle between David & Goliath. Return to hotel for free afternoon allowing travelers’ time for revisiting places of interest, shopping in the Old City (where bargaining is a must!) or for seeing sites not included on the planned tour. Suggestion: Yad Vashem-the Jewish people’s living memorial to the Holocaust-meaningful and unforgettable. The group will gather for dinner and then will depart for Tel Aviv for a late night flight home. Those who will be going on the extension will overnight in Jerusalem.
DAY 11 - WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22 - DEPART TEL AVIV FOR U.S.A.
The close of an unforgettable tour ~ hopefully bringing lasting memories of the Old and New Testament, a renewal of faith, and a greater understanding of the life and ministry of our Lord.
OPTIONAL EILAT and PETRA EXTENSION
Day 11 – WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22 – Jerusalem, Eilat
The group will travel to the Elah Valley and then head onto Eilat for a free afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Eilat.
Day 12 – THURSDAY, JUNE 23 – EILAT PETRA
Transfer to Arava border, full day Petra tour, return via Arava border to Eilat. Transfer back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Eilat at the Astral Seaside Hotel
Day 13 – FRIDAY, JUNE 24 - EILAT, TEL AVIV
Transfer from Eilat Hotel to Tel Aviv; Dinner and transfer to Airport for late evening flight home. |
